Roots and Fruits 2

Roots and Fruits 2: Creative collective worship for primary schools

rooted in the life and teaching of Jesus

Roots and Fruits 2 is a Christian collective worship resource designed to support whole school collective worship over six terms to provide a keynote act of worship for every week of the school year. The focus of the resource is on the life and teaching of Jesus and woven through each act of worship is one of the following six values:   Hope, Community, Dignity, Wisdom, Joy and Peace.

The six chapters in Roots and Fruits 2 are:

  • The Words of Jesus
  • Advent and Christmas
  • People Jesus Meets (such as Martha & Mary and Zacchaeus)
  • Holy Week and Easter
  • The Parables of Jesus
  • The Miracles of Jesus

Roots and Fruits 2 can be used as a stand-alone resource or to complement its popular partner Roots and Fruits 1. Together they offer a 3 year cycle of material which follows the church calendar. (see free downloads www.imaginor.co.uk/church-year )

As in Roots and Fruits 1 there is a strong focus on the use of the arts to give creative expression to Bible stories. Work from a wide range of storytellers, poets, visual artists and photographers  has been especially commissioned for this volume.  Supporting resources and, new for this publication  PowerPoint presentations, can be downloaded to use during the acts of worship.

A comprehensive set of appendices provide a wide range of additional material to help you deliver exciting, fully inclusive worship in your school. They include:

  • Using a Values-led approach  – identifying the Bible stories included in Roots and Fruits 2 that exemplify each value through Jesus’ life and teaching
  • Values posters
  • Fruitful Lives  – the stories of 20 individuals who, inspired by their Christian faith, changed the world
  • plus other supporting appendices
